Ever wonder why you feel bloated after eating random fruits or are weirdly sensitive to a simple APPLE?

The north American culture to be “efficient” and always on the go, forces us to grab that smoothie as we head out the door. If we think about it historically we were bred to chew our food, and digest it. Smoothies take the work away from our stomach. My sister and mom have always said eat your fruit first, and the smoothie should be in addition NOT a replacement.
Why should you be eating your fruit rather than blending/juicing it?
1. Blending is doing the work your stomach and gut should be doing, which takes both energy and time to digest.
2. Breaking down the fiber in fruit not only slows down the release of sugars, but it gives the body more time to absorb the vitamins and minerals that you NEED.
3. The fiber in whole fruit carries a myriad of digestive benefits and is crucial for slowing the absorption of the fruit’s sugar and keeping its glycemic index low.
4. Blending your fruit may prohibit your body from absorbing ALL of the nutrients and minerals that you need!
A team of scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health have found that while eating fruit lowers the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, drinking fruit (in the form of juice) actually increases it. (if you use a fruit juicer, make sure it is supplementing your fruit intake rather than replacing it).
If you are someone like me with digestive issues, you may want to try to eat simple raw and whole foods, rather than blending, or cooking. & don’t get me wrong I drink a smoothie almost everyday, but I make sure I am getting the majority of my daily fruit servings from WHOLE FRUITS.
